Obituary

Bonnie Jane (Boese) Frauendienst Meyer, was born on July 4, 1950, in Gaylord to George and Delores (Gall) Boese. She was baptized on July 30, 1950, and confirmed on May 17, 1964, both at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord.

Bonnie was united in marriage to Donovan Frauendienst, Sr., on October 25, 1970, sharing years rooted in farm life, commitment, and family. She was a doting and hardworking farm wife, devoted to her family and the life she built through years of love and dedication. Later in life, she found love again and married Rueben Meyer on November 24, 2001, with whom she shared companionship and travel.

Bonnie was also deeply proud of her calling as a nurse. She graduated from Meeker County School of Practical Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse and began her nursing career at Gaylord Community Hospital. She devoted her nursing career to Gaylord Lakeview Nursing Home, where she cared for the residents as if they were her own family. Her kindness, patience, and genuine compassion left a lasting impression on all those she served.

In addition to her work and family life, Bonnie generously gave her time to her community and church. She volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, participated in the Altar Guild, and assisted with Meals on Wheels.

When Bonnie needed assistance with her daily care, she moved in with her daughter, Meredith, and Terry Shaw. Bonnie transitioned to Glenfield’s Living with Care for the last few days of her courageous battle with cancer and passed peacefully on February 6, 2026. Bonnie leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, hard work, and compassion that will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.

Bonnie was deeply loved and will be remembered for her warm heart, her steady presence, and the many quiet ways she cared for others. Her faith guided how she loved, served, and showed compassion throughout her life. She will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.

Donovan and Bonnie were blessed with three children, Donovan Frauendienst, Jr., and his wife Keisha, Laura Reid and her husband Darren, and Meredith Frauendienst (Terry Shaw).
Bonnie adored and cherished her grandchildren, Finley Hebrink, Lillian Frauendienst, Henry Frauendienst, Owen Reid, Liza Reid, Nate Frauendienst and fiancée, Cassidy Schoener, and Beauen Frauendienst. Her love for her grandchildren was boundless, and she found great joy in each of them.
Bonnie is further survived by her siblings, Bill (friend, Elaine) Boese, Bev (Dave) Stone, Barbara (Rodney) Haefs, Kevin Boese;
Mother-in-law, Doris Hopp;
Sister-in-law, Kathy (Kenneth) Franke;
Brothers-in-law, Kevin (Ronda) Frauendienst and Randy (Vicki) Frauendienst;
nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Donovan Frauendienst Sr., and Rueben Meyer; parents, George and Delores Boese; fathers-in-law, Verlin Frauendienst and Harold Hopp; and sister-in-law, Barbara Boese.

The family is grateful for the love, prayers, and support during this difficult time.

    I worked with Bonnie at Lakeview. I was a cook and she was the nurse on our weekends to work. We had so much fun. Lots of friendly bantering and many many laughs. My dad was also a resident at the nursing home.. Bonnie made him tow the line. He was stubborn and she could get him in line!! She took very good care of him. Found memories all around.

    Our sympathy goes to Bonnie and her family. Knew Bonnie from all the parties at the Otto’s and Meyer’s as kids. Was next door neighbor with the Frauediest family and counted Donnie as one of my best friends.

    My deepest sympathy to Bonnie’s family. I grew up next to Bonnie and her family on the Boese farm and shared so many fun and ‘work’ times together — baling hay, 4-H, birthday parties, ice skating in the ‘ditch’, and just playing together! In these later years, I enjoyed visiting with her when she was working at the nursing home where my mother resided for her last 10 years. Bonnie was so kind and caring to my mother and always had a smile to greet my family and me. God bless her family and cherish all the wonderful memories you share . Bonnie was special!
    May God’s peace surround you,
    Marilyn (Franke) Zarnott and Wayne
