Service Information

Bruce “Andy-Blood” Anderson, age 66, of Gaylord passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015, at his home.

Memorial Service will be Tuesday, September 15th, 7:00 P.M. at the United Church of Christ in Gaylord with interment in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Gathering of Family and Friends will be Tuesday, September 15th, from 3:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the church.

Military Honors by the Manthey-Asmus American Legion Post #433.

Obituary

Bruce Arthur Anderson was born on July 4, 1949, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. He was the son of Howard and Delores (Bodin) Anderson. Bruce was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth. He received his education in Gaylord and was a graduate of the Class of 1968.

Bruce entered active military service on April 28, 1969, and served his country in the United States Army as a cook during the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the SPS M-14, VSM, VCM, ARCOM and 1 OS Bar. Bruce was Honorably Discharged on April 21, 1971.

On July 29, 1972, Bruce was united in marriage to Cheryl Wendorff at the United Church of Christ in Gaylord. After their marriage, the couple resided in Henderson, and Gaylord. He was employed as a mason for Lee Jacobson Masonry and Russ Messner. After retirement he worked at Hands, Inc. in Winthrop. Bruce and Cheryl shared 43 years of marriage.

Bruce was a member of the United Church of Christ in Gaylord.

Bruce enjoyed fishing, playing cards, playing pool, visiting Duluth and watching the ships, shaking dice, going to the local bar and having his favorite drink, Mac Attack; and camping in retirement. He loved spending time with his wife and his many friends and family.

Bruce passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015, at his home in Gaylord at the age of 66 years. Blessed be his memory.

Bruce is survived by his:
Wife, Cheryl Anderson of Gaylord, MN;
Sisters, Judy (Tony) Thalmann of Henning, MN, and Laurel (Robert) Ruhr of Thousand Oaks, CA;
Sisters-In-Law, Beatrice Trout, Ila Mae Anderson, Karen Culbert, Shelby Beseke, Althea (Larry) Teschendorf;
Brothers-In-Law, Tom (Nancy) Homme of Gaylord, MN, Cyrus Wendorff and special friend, Darlyne Ernst, Marlin (Sue) Wendorff, and Jerry Wendorff and special friend, Mariann Slavik;
Several Nieces, Nephews, Great-Nieces, Great-Nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bruce was preceded in death by his Parents, Howard and Delores Anderson; Sister, Janice Homme.
