Carol J. Higgins, age 72, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, at her home in Hutchinson.
Obituary
Carol Joan (McCandless) Higgins passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, on Monday, November 3, 2025.
Carol was born on January 26, 1953, in Litchfield, Minnesota. She was the second of four children of Jerome and Lois (Danielson) McCandless. Carol grew up in Grove City, Minnesota.
On October 11, 1975, Carol was united in marriage to Wallace “Wally” Higgins at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grove City. Carol and Wally resided in Litchfield and later made their home in Hutchinson, Minnesota.
Together they built a life filled with companionship and simple joys including spending winters in Hawaii, golfing together in the summer, and sharing countless hours in their sunroom playing cards. This October, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, a milestone that meant the world to her.
Carol is survived by her husband, Wally; son, Jon; daughter, Jennifer; sisters, Janet Olson (Barry) and Jean Winslow (Mike); sister-in-law Diane McCandless; one grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome and Lois; brother, Jim; and nephew, Scott Novotny.
Carol will be remembered for her quiet strength and love of her family. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace and will be deeply missed.
In keeping with Carol’s wishes, no formal service will be held. Memorials may be directed to a charity of your choice.
