Obituary
Carolyn Mae Fredrickson was born on May 17, 1932, in Grafton Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Paul and Emma Rath. Carolyn was baptized as an infant on June 26, 1932, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on May 26, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota. She received her education in Buffalo Lake and was a graduate of the Buffalo Lake Public School Class of 1950.
On April 7, 1951, Carolyn was united in marriage to Raymond Lee Fredrickson at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake. This marriage was blessed with five children: Ronald, Susan, Barbara, Julie and Keri. Carolyn and Raymond resided on the farm until 1960 when they moved to their house in Buffalo Lake.
On top of being a loving homemaker to her husband and children, Carolyn was employed as a cook at several restaurants in Buffalo Lake. Carolyn and Ray owned Ray’s Place where Carolyn assisted Ray in the business. Carolyn was later employed at CSI in Hector, Minnesota where she provided home assembly. She retired in 1997. Carolyn was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake where she was also a member of the Church Quilting Club.
Carolyn enjoyed spending time outside in her garden and planting flowers. Her gardens were her pride and joy. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, baking, canning, making puzzles, and going on her daily walks. Carolyn especially enjoyed spending time with her family and playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carolyn was a proud and grateful 20-year breast cancer survivor and participated yearly in the Renville County Walk in the Park.
Carolyn and Ray loved to travel. Some of their adventures took them to California, Arizona, Colorado, Florida and Nashville. She also chaperoned her daughter Keri on a trip to Germany in 1986.
When Carolyn needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident at Cedar Crest Estates in Silver Lake, Minnesota, on July 21, 2020. She passed away peacefully there on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at the age of 88.
