Catherine “Kitty” L. Jochum

Obituary

Catherine “Kitty” Louise Jochum was born on December 22, 1930, in Lawrence County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Donald E. and Alma I. (Black) Browne. She was baptized, received her first Holy Communion, and was confirmed in her faith all at St. George Catholic Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. She received her education in Glencoe and graduated with the Glencoe High School class of 1949.

On June 25, 1949, Kitty was united in marriage to Bernard Jochum at St. George’s Catholic Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. The couple made their home in rural Glencoe. Kitty and Bernard’s marriage was blessed with eight children, Ann, Martha, Anthony, Keith, Bernard Jr., Elizabeth, Margaret, and Mark. They shared more than 62 years of marriage together until Bernard passed away on March 28, 2012.

Kitty was a loving mother and homemaker. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, and playing cards with the Senior Citizen’s Club. She looked forward to throwing tea parties for her friends. She was always up for an adventure and enjoyed the fine arts; visiting museums and theatres when she could. Kitty enjoyed spending time outdoors and gardening. Kitty greatly cherished the time she spent with her family and her friends.

Kitty was a member of the Church of St. Pius X (originally St. George’s Catholic Church) in Glencoe for many years and was a member of the council of catholic women as well as the church choir. She loved her church and had a strong faith in the Lord.

Kitty passed away on June 6, 2023, at her home in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 92 years. Blessed be her memory.
