Obituary

Charles “Chuck” Bullert was born on January 25, 1940, in Brownton, Minnesota. He was the son of Fred and Martha (Weerts) Bullert. Chuck was baptized as an infant on February 12, 1940 and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth at Immanuel Lutheran in Brownton. He received his education in Hutchinson, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1958, playing football, basketball, and track. Chuck furthered his education at Augustana College where he played football.

On August 12, 1961, Chuck was united in marriage to Barbara Bemo in Alexandria, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with two sons, David and Mark. Chuck and Barb resided in Hutchinson, and shared 33 years of marriage prior to the passing of Barb on October 29, 1994.

Chuck was employed as a high voltage electrician for E.A. Pedersen in Omaha, Nebraska and served at power plant substations throughout the Midwest for 43 years until he retired in 2005. Chuck was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hutchinson since 1966.

Chuck loved playing and watching sports, but his favorite hobby was fishing. He was a seasoned bass fisherman, and he loved fishing the Alexandria area lakes with his father-in-law, Harry Bemo, who was a professional fishing guide. Chuck also loved spending time with his siblings and their families in Long Prairie at his brother Everett’s family lake home.

Chuck had one grandson, Luke, and he cherished every minute they spent together. Chuck also had many friends, and anyone who encountered Chuck was drawn to him because of his kind, gentle personality and his sense of humor.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Woodstone Senior Living in Hutchinson for their compassionate care of Chuck since 2019.

    Mark and family,
It was such a pleasure to get to know you and Chuck when I was a care provider at Woodstone. I am going to miss him. He always shook my hand, said “hello or hi” and said the saying “oh honey!” I love you all and keep in touch!

When I worked at woodstone, his smile could light up the room. All the morning talks and conversations when passing the halls were always great. Chuck was such a nice guy with an even greater heart, he will be dearly missed. I Send my condolences for his family and friends!!
