Obituary

Cletus Anthony Huhn was born on July 27, 1926, in Browerville, Minnesota. He was the son of Joe and Lucia (Seppi) Huhn. Cletus was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth.  He received his education in Hutchinson, Minnesota.

Cletus entered active military service in the United States Army on October 23, 1950, at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and served his country during the Korean War. During his years of service Cletus received a Korean service medal with four bronze campaign stars, Combat Infantry Badge and UN Service Medal.  He received an Honorable Discharge on July 23, 1952, at Camp Roberts, California, and achieved the rank of Sergeant.

Upon his return from Korea, Cletus began employment with an auto glass company in Illinois.   Little did he know that he would fall in love with Doris Shirley, a co-workers daughter and that she would be his future bride and his co-worker, his Father-In-Law.  On August 27, 1955, Cletus was united in marriage to Doris Shirley in Oglesby, Illinois. This marriage was blessed with five sons, Kevin, Larry, Cletus Jr., Doug, and Mark. Cletus and Doris resided and raised their boys on their family farm in Darwin.  They shared 47 years of marriage together until Doris passed away on October 30, 2002.

Cletus was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church in Darwin since 1960. He was also a member of the Litchfield American Legion Post #104 and the Litchfield VFW Post 2828.

Cletus loved farming. He raised beef cattle, dairy cows and grew various types of crops. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends.

When Cletus needed assistance with his daily care, he became a resident of the Dassel Lakeside Nursing Home on January 13, 2017. He passed away there on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at the age of 90 years.

I will always remember Cletus as being a jolly type gentleman, seeming to always be in a hurry to get somewhere. I will also always remember the striped siding on his machine shed. So very sorry to hear about his passing. He was always such a great guy. My sympathy to the entire Huhn family. woodworker08@gmail.com
