Darlene E. Harbarth

Obituary

Darlene E. Harbarth was born on February 10, 1939, in rural Morgan, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Clifford and Eleonora (Harder) Petersen. Darlene was baptized as an infant on March 5, 1939, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 6, 1952, both at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Evan, Minnesota. She received her education in Morgan and graduated with the Morgan High School class of 1957.

On January 5, 1960, Darlene was united in marriage to Donald Harbarth at Evan Lutheran Church in Evan, MN, during a snowstorm. The family made their home on a farm west of Glencoe. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Daniel and Darla. The couple shared 62 years of marriage until Donald passed away March 26, 2022.

Darlene was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Auburn, MN.

After graduation, Darlene was employed at Farmers and Merchant State Bank in New Ulm, Minnesota, she worked there until 1960, when she moved up to Glencoe and married Donald. Darlene was a loving homemaker, and mother, and enjoyed helping on their farm.

Darlene enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, cooking, baking, and canning. She would spend hours outside tending to her gardens and mowing lawn. She enjoyed going to garage sales and auctions. She was a coupon queen who loved to find the best deals. Darlene loved to go to casinos and try her hand at winning big. She greatly cherished the time spent with her family and friends.

When Darlene needed assistance with her daily care, she moved to Grand Meadows Senior Living in 2021. Darlene passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Grand Meadows Senior Living in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 84 years. Blessed be her memory.

Brother-in-law, Gerald Harbarth and his wife, Diane, of Brownton, MN;
Sister-in-law, ElDonna Harbarth of Hutchinson, MN;
Nephews and Nieces, Tim Harbarth, Julie Giese, Lenae Osmondson and her husband, Levi, Lori Pagel and her husband, Ron, Wendy Ruschmeier and her husband, Pete;
Many other relatives and friends.
