Service Information

Darrel McDonald, age 75, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away Friday, February 03, 2017 at Augustana Dassel Lakeside Nursing Home in Dassel, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson with interment in the church cemetery.
Gathering of family and friends will be 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 7, 2017, and Wednesday from 8:00 to Noon at the Dobratz-Hantge in Hutchinson and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 P.M. Tuesday, at Dobratz-Hantge Chapel.
Military Honors by the Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad.

Obituary

Darrel Henry McDonald was born on April 19, 1941, in Hutchinson. He was the son of Earl and Loretta (Rauschendorfer) McDonald. Darrel was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson.  He received his education in Hutchinson, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1959. Darrel furthered his education at a technical school in Wisconsin for a mechanic following his discharge from the United States Army.

Darrel entered active military service in the U.S. Army on June 23, 1959. He received an Honorable Discharge on May 31, 1965.

On June 9, 1962, Darrel was united in marriage to Glenda Maxwell at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks. This marriage was blessed with three children, Michael, Terry and Kelly. Darrel and Glenda shared 48 years of marriage together until Glenda passed away on July 27, 2010.

Darrel and Glenda operated and managed McDonalds Mobile Home Park for 30 years until they retired in 2007. Darrel was a lifelong member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hurchinson. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus.
Darrel enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working in “his shop”. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.

Darrel passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017, at Augustana Dassel Lakeside Nursing Home, at the age of 75 years.

Children, Michael McDonald and his wife, Rita, of Hutchinson, MN,
                Terry McDonald and his wife, Shelley, of Hutchinson, MN,
                Kelly Melmer and her husband, Michael, of Orlando, FL;
Grandchildren, Cory McDonald, Skyler McDonald, Stormi McDonald, Melodie Rannow, Katie McDonald, Darielle Harrington, Talia Melmer, and Connor Melmer;
Great-Grandchildren, Miley Rannow, Kiley McDonald, Katelyn Harrington, Peyton Harrington, Paxton Harrington, Layla Riebe, Mia Riebe, Macey Rannow, Cayden McDonald, Bria Harrington, Blair McDonald, and Adelyn McDonald;
Sister, Linda Collins and her husband, Gary, of Colorado Springs, CO;
Brothers, “Bob” Robert McDonald and his wife, Jean, of Sauk Centre, MN,
                Larry McDonald and his wife, Barb, of Fairfax, MN,
                Tom McDonald and his wife, Linda, of Winthrop, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.

Darrel is preceded in death by his Parents, Earl and Loretta (Rauschendorfer) McDonald and his Wife, Glenda (Maxwell) McDonald.

    So sorry I can’t be there as we are in Az. Prays coming youw way. Darrel was always there when I

    Darrel was a great guy. He could fix anything. Many good memories of our school years from elementary through high school.
