Service Information
Darris D. Sifferath, age 84, of rural Hector, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024, at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brookfield Township, Minnesota, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 5:00-8:00 P.M., at Hughes-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hector and will continue one hour prior to the service at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Obituary
Darris Dale Sifferath was born on December 21, 1939, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He was the son of Harry and Irma (Wehking) Sifferath. Darris was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith as a youth in 1953. He received his education in Hector, Minnesota, and was a graduate of the Hector High School class of 1958. He was active in Agriculture classes and received a state FFA Degree Award. Darris was a lifelong farmer. In the late 1950s he joined his Dad in the farming operation. They raised a variety of livestock including dairy cattle, pigs, sheep, and chickens. The family raised corn and soybeans recently, but also raised hay, wheat and oats.
Darris was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brookfield Township, Minnesota. He was active in Sunday School, Junior Mission Band, and Luther League as a youth. As an adult, he became a church council member and eventually held the office of Church President. Darris also was a member of the First District Association, and served on the Creamery Board.
Darris was united in marriage to Eileen (Susie) Raitz in June of 1974. The couple was blessed with a daughter, Louise, and Susie’s two sons, Ted and Tim Berg.
Darris enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed going on camping trips to the Boundary Waters, and enjoyed spending time at the North Shore. In addition to the Duluth area, Darris enjoyed traveling to the mountains in Colorado, Montana, North and South Dakota, and Wyoming. He was interested in the cowboy lifestyle and enjoyed his horse, Topsy, when he was young.
Darris spent time hunting, deer, pheasants, duck, grouse, bear and moose. He loved fishing and would go as often as possible. He loved animals. In addition to his horse Topsy, he enjoyed his dog, Lady who became his companion in his later years. He was also in the process of trying to tame a feral cat.
Darris enjoyed a variety of activities including time spent socializing with his family and friends, starting up conversations with people in the community, and was always interested in what was happening in the area, and one of his other favorite pastimes was mowing his lawn.
Darris passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024, at St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 84 years surrounded by his family.

Nieces and Nephews, Jim (Jess) Schauman, Angela (Marty) Schauman, Paul (Corinne and her daughter, Malia) Grimm, Hannah Grimm;
Friend, Becky Dickenson;
Many other relatives and friends.
Darris is preceded in death by his Parents, Harry and Irma Sifferath.
