Service Information
David A. Martin, age 69, husband of Lynn, of Cosmos, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, at his home.
Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 11:00 A.M., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brookfield Township, rural Hector, Minnesota, with interment at a later date in the church cemetery.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Hughes-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hector, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Obituary
David Allen Martin was born on November 1, 1953, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He was the son of Reuben and Margaret (Lang) Martin. Dave was baptized as an infant on November 22, 1953, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on April 23, 1967, both at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brookfield Township, Minnesota. He received his education in Cosmos, and was a graduate of the Cosmos High School Class of 1971.
On August 25, 2023, Dave was united in marriage to Lynn Nelson at Anderson Gardens in Litchfield, Minnesota.
Dave was employed as a purchasing agent for Uni-Hydro Inc. in Cosmos for almost 50 years. He was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brookfield Township. He was also a member of the Cosmos Lions Club and the Meeker County Sherrif’s Mounted Posse.
Dave enjoyed tending to his bountiful garden and canning. He was a talented softball player. Dave played on multiple teams with many friends during his career and was fortunate to play with his son, Adam for many years. He had a special love for horses. Dave enjoyed horseback riding, cattle sorting, and being a long-standing member of the Meeker County Sherrif’s Mounted Posse. Later in life, he was the biggest fan and supporter in the stands of his grandchildren’s activities and athletics. Dave enjoyed spending time with friends and family, playing cards and cribbage, and watching the Minnesota Wild.
Dave passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, peacefully surrounded by his family at his home in Cosmos, at the age of 69 years.

Step-grandchildren, Jacob, Kaelyn and her children, Grady and Harper;
Siblings, Richard Martin and his wife, Linda of Hutchinson, MN,
Gary Martin and his wife, Sue of Cosmos, MN,
Karen Sladek and her husband, Jim of Alexandria, MN,
Judy Schiro and her husband, Randy of Cosmos, MN,

Mother of Adam and Wendy, Roxanne Kohls;

Dave is preceded in death by his Parents, Reuben and Margaret Martin; and Infant son, Timothy David Martin.

Due to prior comments, I was unable to attend David’s visitation or funeral. Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to extend my condolences to the Lynn and the Martin family. I enjoyed playing softball with David on the Jim’s Drywall team in Stewart, David always played hard and was a very talented player for the team. I would see David periodically and I always enjoyed reminiscing. Blessed be his memory!
