Service Information
Dawn Westlund, daughter of Marcella (Schlueter) Westlund, age 40, of Rural Brownton, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at Ridgeview Sibley Medical Center in Arlington, Minnesota.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at 1:00 P.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cedar Mills Township, Meeker County, Minnesota, with interment in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 25, 2019, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson and one will continue one hour prior to the service at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Obituary
Dawn Marie Westlund was born on August 27, 1978, in Shakopee, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Wayne and Marcella (Schlueter) Westlund. She was baptized as an infant at Calvary United Methodist Church in Shakopee and confirmed in her faith as a youth at St. John’s Lutheran Church by Reverend R.E. Langhorst on April 25, 1993. Dawn attended kindergarten in Shakopee and then elementary school in Hutchinson and St. John’s Parochial School. She received her GED at Hutchinson High School.
Dawn met the love of her life, Matthew Sohns, in 2012. This relationship was blessed with a son, Brady Richard Sohns.
Dawn was presently working at Michael Foods in Gaylord, Minnesota. She had previously worked at Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield, Minnesota, and Methodist Hospital Clinics in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota. She also was a waitress and bartender in the Litchfield and Cedar Mills area.
Dawn enjoyed teaching Brady new things and playing with her dog, Toby. She had a green thumb and loved tending to her flower beds and gardening. She also enjoyed decorating for the holidays, baking, scrapbooking and embroidery. She was a member of Brownton Women’s Club.

Dawn is preceded in death by her Father, Wayne Westlund; Grandparents, Elmer and Arliss Schlueter, Henning and Emma Westlund; Godfathers, William Westlund, Arlow “Joe” Jansen; Cousin, Emily Ulrich.
