Dean C. Cripps, age 83, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at his home.

Private Family Graveside Service will be held in Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.

Obituary

Dean Charles Cripps was born on September 14, 1941, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He was the son of Clair and Inez (Moravec) Cripps. Dean was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith as a youth at Hutchinson Congregational United Church of Christ. He received his education in Hutchinson, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1959.

On September 11, 1961, Dean was united in marriage to Phyllis Barnes in Glencoe, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with one son, Scott. Dean and Phyllis resided in Hutchinson. They shared 63 years of marriage.

Dean was employed as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service based in Hutchinson. He retired in 1996 after 34 years of service. Dean was a member of New Journey United Church of Christ in Hutchinson.

Dean enjoyed antiquing and watching all manner of sports on television. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and friends.

Dean passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at his home in Hutchinson, at the age of 83 years.

Dean is survived by his:
Wife, Phyllis Cripps of Hutchinson, MN;
Son, Scott Cripps and his wife, Joyce of Hutchinson, MN;
Grandchildren, Ryan Koester and his wife Maggie,
Robert Cripps and his wife, Tori,
Claire Wheatley and her husband, Joe;
4 Great-grandchildren, Aaliyah Cripps, Raelyn Cripps, Maddison Wheatley, Brooks Wheatley;
Many other relatives and friends.

Dean is preceded in death by his Parents, Clair and Inez Cripps.

    Oh, Phyllis & Scott! So many memories of Dean—as Phyllis’ husband, a friend, and usually as my post man!Driving back from Duluth in pea soup fog…Dean trying to see the center line by opening the driver side window…or to escape all the help he was getting from his passengers!

    Dean was a high school fiiend who i didn’t see a great deal through the years, but he was always a good guy with a great sense of humor and I nalwas enjoyed our chats at reunions. My condolences to the family.
