Delores Filzen, age 99, of Gaylord passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Bayside Manor in Gaylord.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, August 21, 2025, 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Gaylord with interment in the Gaylord City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Obituary
Delores Catherine Filzen was born on January 28, 1926, in Mulligan Township, Brown County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Ferdinand and Clara (Molden) Windschitl. Delores was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at the Church of Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth Township, Brown County, Minnesota. She attended District 46 School near Comfrey, Minnesota, and received her GED certificate.
On June 24, 1947, Delores was united in marriage to Erwin Raymond Filzen at the Church of Japanese Martyrs. After their marriage, the couple resided in Sleepy Eye and Gaylord. The couple was blessed with four children. She was employed as a cook at the Gaylord Hospital and Nursing Home. She was a loving wife and mother.
Delores was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Gaylord.
Delores enjoyed playing computer games and cards. In her younger years, she loved to go dancing and garden.
When she needed assistance with her care, Delores became a resident of Bayside Manor and passed away there on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the age of 99 years. Blessed be her memory.

Brenda Porter and her husband, James “Tim” of Palmetto, FL, and
David Filzen and his wife, Dawn of Powder Springs, GA;
Grandchildren, Christopher (Kathleen) Filzen, Heidi Filzen-Schaefer, Casey (Nesrin) Filzen, Alex (Cassidy) Filzen, Matthew Filzen, Samantha Filzen, Brittany Porter (Allen Cunningham);
14 Great-grandchildren;
3 Great-great-grandchildren;
Sisters, Marion Augustine of Springfield, MN, and Janet Earl and her husband, Richard of New Ulm, MN;
Brothers, Edwin Windschitl of Springfield, MN, and Sylvanus Windschitl and his wife, Bev of New Ulm, MN;
Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Delores was preceded in death by her Parents, Ferdinand and Clara Windschitl; Husband, Erwin R. Filzen; Son, Patrick Filzen in infancy; Siblings, Hilarius “Larry” Windschitl and his wife, Sylvia, Lucille Wall and her husband, Marvin, Alfred Windschitl, Hildegaard Housegard, Clarice Weisensel and her husband, James; Sister-in-law, Marilyn Windschitl, Sandra Windschitl; Brother-in-law, Perry Augustine.
