Delores “Loli” J. Weikle

Obituary

Delores Jane Weikle “Loli” was born on February 2, 1926, in Bandon Township, Renville County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Elvin and Laura (Dahl) Nestande. Delores was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at Zion Lutheran Church. She received her education in Fairfax and was a graduate of the Fairfax High School Class of 1943. After high school she moved to Minneapolis and worked in an office pool and a Scandanavian gift shop, and enjoyed city life for a while. She then moved to Seattle, Washington, and was employed at Boeing, before returning to Fairfax.

On October 21, 1951, Delores was united in marriage to Kenneth Weikle at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Fairfax. Delores and Kenneth were blessed with seven children. She was a loving homemaker and mother. Delores and Kenneth shared 57 years of marriage before Kenneth passed away on December 22, 2008.

Delores was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Fairfax, where she had taught Sunday School and was a member of the Ladies Aide.

Delores loved to travel and tour with family and friends. She was an avid reader, especially keeping up with current world events and politics. Education was very important to her, and she and Ken worked hard to provide and send all seven children to college. She was quick witted and loved a good funny story and could laugh until she cried. Delores cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Great-Grandchildren, Ethan and Rua;
Brother, John Nestande and his wife, Marlene of Fairfax, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.

Delores was preceded in death by her Parents, Elvin and Laura Nestande; Husband, Kenneth Weikle; and a stillborn daughter.
