Deloris Esther Mahlow

Obituary

     Deloris Esther Linneman Mahlow was born March 17, 1935, on a farm north of Buffalo Lake in Renville County, the daughter of Arthur and Rose (Schwanke) Linneman.  She was baptized in the Methodist Church in Buffalo Lake on April 28, 1935   and confirmed in her faith as a youth.   Deloris grew up in rural Buffalo Lake, and graduated from the Buffalo Lake High School with the Class of 1953. 

     On July 9, 1955, Deloris was united in marriage to Richard Mahlow of Bird Island at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bird Island.  They made their home in Bird Island, and shared 59 years of marriage.  Two children blessed this union, Dale and Diane. 

     Deloris worked for Lyle Boehlke Insurance Company upon graduation from high school, and from 1957 to 1970 worked at the Hector Elevator.  She then worked for the Buffalo Lake Elevator and Mill for 27 years, and retired in 1997.   Deloris was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bird Island, and had served as the Financial Secretary for 14 years.

     Deloris enjoyed painting and quilting.  She sewed many quilts that are treasured by her family, and made many quilt tops for church.  She liked being home following retirement, and was able to take care of her twin granddaughters, of whom she was very proud.  Deloris liked to go camping with her family.  She enjoyed feeding the birds, and canning food with her husband Richard for their family.  Always thoughtful, Deloris faithfully called her family, and never forgot to send a birthday card.  She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, making memories, and upholding traditions that will now carry on.

     Late Saturday evening, October 11, 2014, Deloris passed away at the St. Cloud Hospital, having reached the age of 79 years, 6 months, 24 days.  Blessed be her memory.

     Deloris is survived by her Husband, Richard Mahlow, of Bird Island;

Children:  Dale Mahlow and wife Karen of Spicer, and Diane Burmeister and husband Joel of Buffalo Lake;

Grandchildren:  Vanessa Burmeister and Ashley Burmeister;

Sister, Marion Style and her husband Vince of St. James;

Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law: Gary Mahlow and his wife Alice of Bird Island;

Sister-in-law, Lucille Mahlow of Litchfield;

Great-uncle, Lyle Schwanke of Sanborn;

Many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, other relatives, and friends. 

     Deloris was preceded in death by her Parents, Arthur and Rose Linneman.
