Dennis D. Nygaard

Obituary

Dennis Donald Nygaard was born on February 7, 1941, in Litchfield, Minnesota. He was the son of Robert and Gladys (Martin) Nygaard. Dennis was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth both at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos, Minnesota.  He received his education in Litchfield.

On January 25, 1964, Dennis was united in marriage to the love of his life, JoAnn Seller at the Congregational Church in Hutchinson, Minnesota.  This marriage was blessed with two children, Kevin and Brenda. Dennis and JoAnn lived and raised their family in Litchfield.  Dennis and JoAnn shared 54 years of marriage.

Dennis was a wonderful employee for Jennie-O and Gold’n Plump for many years. He retired in 2001. He also did some construction work. 

Dennis enjoyed riding his bicycle, mowing lawn on his riding lawnmower, playing cards, dice, and listening to old time music.  He also enjoyed watching sports on TV; mostly boxing.  Dennis was an animal lover and loved his dog “Peaches”.  He loved putzing with many different projects.  He cherished the time spent with his family, grandchildren and friends.

Dennis became a resident at Woodstone Senior Living on September 1, 2017 and passed away there on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at the age of 77 years.  He will be missed greatly.  Blessed be his memory.

                  Brenda Schultz and her husband, Randy of Litchfield, MN;

Grandchildren, Danielle Nygaard, Courtney Nygaard, Ashley Deese and her husband, Jake, and Hunter Schultz.
Sisters, Karen Rolsted and her husband, Vernon of Litchfield, MN,
Sister-In-Law, Donna Steman of Minneapolis, MN;
Nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Dennis is preceded in death by his: Parents, Robert and Gladys Nygaard; Brothers, Richard Nygaard and Steven Nygaard; Sister, Kathy Huckenpoehler; and Brother-In-Law, Vernon Huckenpoehler.
