Donald Kaping

Obituary

Donald Herbert Kaping was born on March 5, 1925, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He was the son of Herbert and Mammie (Klitzke) Kaping. Donald was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth He received his education at a country school near Buffalo Lake, Minnesota.

Donald entered active military service in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge.

On May 9, 1947, Donald was united in marriage to Lilly Boelter at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos. This marriage was blessed with four children, Shirley, Joan, Gene, and Mark. Donald and Lilly resided in Cedar Mills Township, Meeker County, Minnesota, where they farmed. When he retired from farming, Donald and Lilly moved to Strout, Minnesota. They shared 70 years of marriage.

Donald was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Cosmos. He was also a member of the Beack-Thompson American Legion Post 126 in Cosmos and a former member of NFO.

Donald enjoyed making trinkets, folk art, inventing farm equipment and collecting barbwire. He also enjoyed dancing, gardening, and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.

Donald passed away on January 29, 2018, at Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield, at the age of 92 years.

1 Great Great-Grandchild, Jaxon;
2 Sisters, Tina Dolezal of Hutchinson, MN,
                  Sharon Wagner of Hutchinson, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.

Donald is preceded in death by his Daughter, Joan Diane Kaping; Parents, Herbert and Mammie Kaping; Siblings, Delores Frietag, Darrel Kaping, Herbert Kaping Jr., and Eunice Ulrich.
