Service Information

Donald P. Langert, age 89, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at GlenFields Living With Care in Glencoe, Minnesota.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 19, 2022, 11:00 A.M., at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment at Fairview Cemetery in Minnetrista, Minnesota.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 19, 2022, from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M., 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.

Military Honors will be provided by the Glencoe Military Honor Guard.

Obituary

Donald Philip Langert was born on May 28, 1933, in Mondovi, Wisconsin. He was the son of  Charles and Alice (Larson) Langert. He received his education in Mondovi through the eighth grade. Donald entered active military service for the United States Navy on October 13, 1952, and served his country during the Korean War. He received an Honorable Discharge on October 11, 1956. When Donald returned home from the service, he continued his education at Dunwoody Technical College in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

On July 29, 1957, Donald was united in marriage to Joyce Weiland at Minnetrista Baptist Church in Minnetrista, MN. This marriage was blessed with four children, Joseph, Sally, Timothy, and Joy. They made their home in Maple Plain, MN, and then moved to Glencoe.

Donald was employed at Tonka Toys as a tool and die maker for many years. He was also a bus driver for the Orono School District. After Donald and Joyce moved to Glencoe, he became a bus driver for Glencoe-Silver Lake School District. He was employed there for 10 years before retiring in 2004.

Donald was considered a  “handyman” and loved to fix up anything he could get his hands on. He loved to go snowmobiling in the winter and fishing on their lakeshore lot in Alexandria, Minnesota. Golf outings with his grandsons and friends were some of his favorite memories made. Donald especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.

Donald passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at the age of 89 at GlenFields Living With Care in Glencoe.

Wife, Joyce Langert of Glencoe, MN;
Daughters, Sally Jasken and her husband, Jerome of Glencoe, MN,
                     Joy Bartness and her husband, Bret of Plymouth, MN;
Grandchildren; Adam (Kristin) Jasken of Glencoe, MN, Andrea (Ben) Wolfe of Lester Prairie, MN, Andy Jasken of Glencoe, MN, Anna (Tim) Mackenthun of Glencoe, MN, Carrie (Tyler) McCormick of Osseo, WI, Nathan (Jessica) Langert of Elk River, MN, Dylan Bartness of Plymouth, MN;
Great-Grandchildren, Ashley Jasken, Emily Jasken, Kayla Stowell, Candace Ryan, Scott Wolfe, Zoe Wolfe, Olivia Mackenthun, Clara Mackenthun, Jace McCormick, Silas McCormick, Rye McCormick, Leeland Langert, Wyatt Langert, Oliver Langert;
Sisters, Emily Kelly, Donna Burke, Shirley Mahoney, Nancy Waldenberger, Geri (Jon) Cummings;
Nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Alice Langert; Sons, Joseph Langert and Timothy Langert; Parents-in-law, Joseph and Olive Weiland; Sister, Jane (Bill) Hart; Brothers-in-law, Harold Kelly, Lamont Weiland, Bill Weiland, Jean Weiland.
