Obituary
Orville Martin and Mayonne (Homburg) Martin welcomed their healthy bundle of joy, Dorin Lee Martin on May 10, 1956, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He began his Christian journey when he was baptized and later confirmed at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. Dorin would continue his deep faith as a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson until the day the Good Lord took him home. As Dorin grew, he would find great pleasure in keeping his sisters and parents on their toes with his never-ending teasing, joking and quirky sense of humor. He always had a smile on his face as a testament to his enormous, kind heart. Dorin truly enjoyed his family’s trips up north to Pine Beach Resort where he and his father would bond over the latest fishing stories. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in Hutchinson and continued his education with a two-year degree at St. Cloud Technical College in St. Cloud, Minnesota, where his recipe of life was brought to light through is passion for cooking. As Dorin began his young adulthood, a long series of health challenges that continued for the duration of his life, would test his zest for life, independence and perseverance. But the word “quit” was never in his vocabulary and would continue to be an inspiration for those fortunate enough to know him.
Dorin reconnected with his childhood neighbor, the love of his life, Lori Duesterhoeft and married on October 26, 1996. His love, admiration and complete adoration for Lori would grow stronger and deeper until he made his journey to his heavenly home.
Dorin’s life was sprinkled with the things he was most dedicated to; his family, love of John Deere tractors, cooking and last but not least his second lady, Tanya Tucker. His home is garnished with snapshots of numerous memories of his dedication to travel wherever Tanya may be playing, including the most remote concert in Alabama.
Regardless of his numerous and consistent health issues, his love of family drove him to help his mother and parents in law with various tasks including shopping and ensuring that the lawn work was done while riding his favorite tractor, a John Deere mower. Oh, how he loved his John Deere tractors as is evidence of the immense collection of memorabilia proudly displayed throughout their home.
Dorin gained his heavenly wings while resting peacefully, surrounded by his devoted wife and all the treasures of his life, on Friday, April 5, 2024.
Survived by his wife, Lori (Duesterhoeft) Martin; sisters, Carol (Dick) Telthoester, Jan (Butch) Hausladen, Nita (Gary) Klima; brothers-in-law, Scott (Stacy) Duesterhoeft, Ken Villebro; Marnita Van Hoecke as well as numerous nieces and nephews who deeply loved him.
Dorin was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Mayonne Martin; grandparents, Harold and Ester Martin, Otto and Della Homburg; parents-in-law, Eugene and Shirley Duesterhoeft; sister-in-law, Vicki Villebro; and numerous aunts, uncles and loved ones.

Sorry to hear of Dorin’s passing. In June 1973, I got to know him during the Pea Pack at Green Giant in Glencoe. I don’t believe I’ve seen him since the 1970s and I sometimes wondered (as I often do of friends and acquaintances) what became of him. Will have to let Jeff Plath know.
Sincerely, Al Koenig, BL-H
