Obituary

Doris Arlene Hepner was born November 25, 1936, to Philip and Annie Hepner (nee Karg), their 4th child, in Rich Valley Township, McLeod County Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed by Rev. Alfred Streufert at First Evangelical Lutheran Church. As a young girl, she moved with her family to rural Silver Lake and attended a one-room schoolhouse, grades 1 through 8, and then attended High School graduating in 1954 with a class of 15 students.

After graduating, Dorie worked at the Helen Baker School and Glencoe High School, Northwest Bell Telephone Company in Minneapolis, Security Bank and Trust in Glencoe, A.W. Beneke, Attorney’s Office, and Young America Corporation in Norwood Young America.

On May 10, 1958, Dorie was united in marriage to Allen E. Heil by Rev. Fellwock at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, and they were blessed with three children; Jim, Jay, and Julie. They were married 56 years when Allen passed away on October 5, 2014.

Dorie enjoyed playing Sheepshead, doing crossword puzzles, watching trivia game shows, going to thrift shops, and listening to any kind of music (except hard rock). She especially enjoyed the Lawrence Welk Show. She also loved animals but was deathly afraid of snakes. Dorie also enjoyed watching all of Minnesota's sports teams. She loved growing zinnias and vegetables in her garden and feeding the birds and squirrels. The highlight of her life was when her family came to visit.
