Doris Evelyn Schreiner

Obituary

     Doris Evelyn Schreiner was born July 24, 1928, in Three Lakes Township, Redwood County Minnesota, the daughter of John and Alma Person.  She attended Country School District 92.  Doris was baptized in the Lutheran faith at age 9, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on March 29, 1942.  Doris attended Nursing School at the Union Hospital in New Ulm, Minnesota, and worked there until she married.

     On October 25, 1948, Doris was united in marriage to Elmer Schreiner at St. Willibrord’s parsonage in Gibbon by Father Reuter.  They were blessed with five children, Dale, Darleen, Marvin, James, and Ann.  Doris and Elmer spent many years working on farms near Stewart, Morgan, Gibbon, Redwood Falls, and Hector before they moved to Buffalo Lake in 1969.  Elmer then worked at 3M in Hutchinson, and Doris stayed at home being a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.  She continued to live in their home in Buffalo Lake after Elmer passed away on February 10, 2006. 

     Doris converted to the Catholic faith in June, 1958.  She had great faith in the Lord, putting all trust in Him.  She was confirmed in the Catholic Church on June 13, 1960.  Doris was a faithful member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Hector. 

     In the early evening of Tuesday, May 6, 2014, Doris passed away from liver cancer at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, having reached the age of 85 years.  Blessed be her memory.

Children: Dale Schreiner and his Wife, Claire, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Darleen Jutz and her Husband, James, of Gibbon, Minnesota, James Schreiner of New Ulm, Minnesota, and Ann Jutz and her Husband, Fred, of Gibbon, Minnesota;

Grandchildren: Leah Pfizenmayer of Cincinnati, OH, Kyle Schreiner (Lori) of Cincinnati, OH, Christine Unger (Will) of Gibbon, MN, Jesse Jutz (Catrena) of Gibbon, MN, Danny Jutz of Big Lake, MN, Kevin Schreiner (Megan) of Belle Plaine, MN, Matthew Schreiner of New Ulm, MN, Thomas Schreiner of Winthrop, MN, John Schreiner of New Ulm, MN, Stacy Jutz of Gibbon, MN,  Joshua Jutz of Gibbon, MN, and Johanna Jutz of Gibbon, MN;

Great-Grandchildren:  Jacob, Kaitlyn, and Kylie Unger, Maddison, Ethan, Celeste, Kaydence, Garrett, and Jemma Jutz, Tristan and Ethan Pfizenmayer, Axel Schreiner, Aiden Schreiner, Bentleigh Kretsch, Madelyn Smith, and Preston Eugene Schreiner expected in June;

Brothers: Alvin (Marilyn) Person, and Neil (Jan) Person;

Sisters-in-law: Phyllis (Dick) Gruenhagen, Helena Schreiner, Dory Schreiner; many Nieces, Nephews, other relatives, and friends.

     Doris was preceded in death by her Parents, John and Alma Person, Husband Elmer, Son Marvin on August 4, 2012, infant brother Leo Person, Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Ludwig and Catherine Schreiner, Sister Leona Routhe, Brothers-in-law: Floyd Routhe, LeRoy Schreiner, Walter Schreiner, John Rubischko, and Lawrence Schreiner, and Sisters-in-law Jean Schreiner and Marcella Rubischko.
