Dorothy Agre

Obituary

Dorothy Mae Agre was born on July 23, 1930, in Gaylord, Minnesota. She was the daughter of William and Agnes (Maass) Zachow. Dorothy was baptized as an infant on August 17, 1930, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 2, 1944, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School and was a graduate of the Gaylord High School Class of 1948.

On October 15, 1950, Dorothy was united in marriage to Jerome (Jim) Agre at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord by Reverend Stahlke. Jim and Dorothy owned the Gaylord Bakery from 1965-1984. This union was blessed with two sons, Scott (Jan) and Steve (Carrie). Dorothy and Jerome shared 37 years of marriage when Jerome passed away on June 29, 1988.

Dorothy was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord.

Dorothy enjoyed her many winter vacations in Arizona with her husband, Jim. Family was important to Dorothy and she was dedicated in getting the family together for many family reunions. In recent years, she never missed a birthday party for her grandchildren or great-grandchildren. Dorothy shared her many talents of cooking, knitting, card playing at the senior center and playing the penny slots at Jackpot. She was committed to her community and volunteered at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gaylord Nursing Home and Meals on Wheels.

Dorothy passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020, at Golden Hearts in Arlington at the age of 89 years. Blessed be her memory.

Grandchildren, Ryan Tauer and his wife, Anna, Danielle Frauendienst and her husband, Tom, Joey Tauer and his wife, Rachael, Tyler Agre and his fiancée, Toni Winslow, Allison Agre, Mata Agre, and Joe Agre;
8 Great-grandchildren;
Brother, Roman “Red” Zachow of Gaylord, MN;
Sister-in-law, Doris Zachow of Fridley, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her Parents, William and Agnes Zachow; Husband, Jerome Agre; Sister, Marian and LeRoy Henke; Brother, Merton Zachow; Nephew, Michael Henke.
