Service Information

Dorothy B. Anderson, age 92, of Hector, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018, at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center. 

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hector, with interment in the Hector City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday at Church from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M., for two hours prior to the service.

Memorials to F.R.E.E.  (Friends, Relatives, Enabling Elderly & Family Council at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.)

Obituary

Dorothy Bertha Anderson was born on May 24, 1926, in Cosmos, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Harold and Esther (Kutzke) Martin. She was baptized on June 27, 1926, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brookfield Township, rural Hector, and was confirmed there on April 21, 1940. While growing up, Dorothy resided in the Lakeside area of Boon Lake Township, and attended District 77 School.

On May 19, 1950, Dorothy was united in marriage to Myron Anderson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brookfield Township. This union was blessed with two sons, Daryl and Steven. They made their home in Hector, and had shared 41 years of marriage when Myron passed away on October 29, 1991.

Dorothy was a devoted housewife and mother. She was employed by Dr. R.A. Penkert in his veterinary office for 19 years, and at Johnson’s Hardware Implement in the parts department. Dorothy was a member of First Lutheran Church where she belonged to the Mary-Martha Circle. She enjoyed quilting with the ladies, loved to play cards with friends, and enjoyed coffee hour with friends. Dorothy enjoyed company and loved to visit. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her sons and their families.

On Thursday morning, October 11, 2018, Dorothy passed away at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center, having reached the age of 92 years, 4 months, 17 days. Blessed be her memory.

Dorothy is survived by her:

Sons: Daryl Anderson and wife Bonnie of New Bern, North Carolina, and
           Steven Anderson and wife Cindy of Andover, Minnesota;

Grandchildren: Sean and Travis Anderson of New Bern, North Carolina, Brett and Ryan Anderson of Andover, Minnesota;

Sister-in-law, Mayonne Martin of Hutchinson;

many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Myron; parents, Harold and Esther Martin; parents-in-law, Arthur G. and Esther (Schiro) Anderson; granddaughter, Tracy Anderson; and her brothers: Orville Martin, Clarence Martin and his wife, Aldora, and Reuben Martin and his wife, Margaret.

    Sorry Carol and I cannot attend the funeral on Wednesday. Our condolences to the whole Martin and Anderson families. May God watch and guide Darrel and Steve families .
