Service Information

Dorothy “Dottie” Ann Minnick, age 94, of Cosmos, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at Cedar Crest of Cosmos. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, August 18, 2014, 11:00 A.M., at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Lake Lillian, Minnesota with interment in the Cosmos Community Cemetery in Cosmos.

Obituary

Dorothy “Dottie” Ann Minnick was born on September 28, 1919, in New Ulm, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Alfred and Ann (Bartl) Brey. Dorothy was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm. She attended Saint Mary’s Parochial School in New Ulm. 

On November of 1938, Dorothy was united in marriage to Harold Minnick, Sr.at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm. This marriage was blessed with two children, Harold, Jr. and Mary.  Dorothy and Harold resided in New Ulm. In 1940, they moved to Aurora, Illinois. In 1946, they moved to Cosmos, Minnesota. They shared 65 years of marriage until Harold passed away on November 4, 2003.

During World War II, Dorothy was employed at Shell Factory in Aurora, Illinois. In 1946, Dorothy and Harold opened Minnick’s Phillips 66 in Cosmos. She retired in 1980.  Dorothy attended St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Lake Lillian, Minnesota. She was a member of Cosmos American Legion Auxiliary Post #126 for 19 years.

Dorothy enjoyed baking and cooking for family and friends. She also enjoyed fishing, bowling, ceramics, and was active in church activities.  She especially cherished spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.

Dorothy passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at Cedar Crest of Cosmos, Minnesota, at the age of 94 years.

Dorothy is survived by her:

Children, Harold Minnick, Jr. and his wife, Karla of Grove City, MN,
                Mary Schjenken and her husband, Mike of Sacred Heart, MN;

Grandchildren, Mark Minnick and his wife, Deb, Scott Minnick and his wife, Marilyn, Pat Weseloh and her husband, Harry, Nancy Adams, Tracy Misialek and her husband, Kory, David Schjenken and his wife, Stephanie, Ryan Schjenken and his special friend, Marika, Jeremy Hacker, Jacob Hacker and his special friend, Erica;

Great-Grandchildren, Tyler Minnick, Colton, Minnick, Lindsey Minnick, Beau Weseloh, Brenna Adams, Mya Misialek, Kamryn Misialek, Lindy Misialek, Logan Schjenken, Hannah Schjenken, Savannah Hacker, Aubree Hacker, Baylee Hacker;

Brothers-in-aw, John Minnick and Donald Minnick and his wife, Carol;

Sister-In-Law, Carol Minnick;

many other relatives and friends.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her Parents, Alfred and Ann Brey; Husband, Harold Minnick, Sr.; Sister, Delores Wernette; Brother, Patrick Brey.

The family invites everyone to the luncheon at the Cosmos American Legion Post  immediately following the committal service.
