Service Information

Dorothy A. Gram, age 76, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson with interment in the Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 8, 2019, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel, with a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Obituary

Dorothy Ann Gram was born on October 21, 1942, in Forest City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Ejnar and Anna (Mogensen) Johnson. Dorothy was baptized as an infant at Immanuel Lutheran in Forest City, Iowa and confirmed in her faith at Methodist Church in Hayfield, Iowa. She received her education in Clear Lake, Iowa and was a graduate of the Clear Lake High School Class of 1960. She continued her education at Hamilton Business College in Mason City, Iowa, graduating in 1961 with her Secretarial Associates Degree.

On May 17, 1964, Dorothy was united in marriage to Larry Gram at United Methodist Church in Clear Lake, Iowa. This marriage was blessed with three children, Christopher, Mollie, and James. Dorothy and Larry made their home Hutchinson, Minnesota.  They shared 54 years of marriage.

In her younger years, Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for Builders Supply, Gould Brothers, and Greenbrier Floral. She then furthered her career working as a typist for Young America Corporation in Norwood Young America, Minnesota, for 19 years. Before retiring in 2000, Dorothy worked as a custodian at Vineyard Methodist Church in Hutchinson for 8 years.

Dorothy was an active member of Vineyard Methodist Church. She dedicated her time to her church in numerous ways; as a Sunday School Leader for 20 years, Circle President, United Methodist Women President, Sunday School Teacher, Lay Speaker, Liturgist, Administration Board Member for the Food Shelf, Mission Committee, Church Library, Turkey Dinners Committee, and much more.

Dorothy enjoyed reading, embroidery, and listening to Country music, especially Conway Twitty. She was a devoted wife, mom, and grandma; and cherished her time spent with her grandchildren, family, and friends. Dorothy will be remembered for her love of family and her joy of cooking and baking for them.

Dorothy passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, Minnesota, at the age of 76 years.

Dorothy is survived by her:
Husband, Larry Gram, of Hutchinson, MN;
Children, Christopher Gram and his wife, Paulina, of Montrose, MN,
Mollie Kidder and her husband, David, of Horace, ND,
James Gram and his wife, Crystal, of Princeton, MN;
Adopted Daughter, Lisa Preuschl of Coralville, IA;
Grandchildren, Victoria and Rachel Gram, Ruby and Lily Kidder, Charlie, Savanna, Isabella and Chelsea Gram, Jacob, Justin, Danielle and Jadon Preuschl;
many other relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her Parents, Ejnar and Anna Johnson.
