Obituary
Dr. Andrew Jon Lindekugel was born on October 15, 1979, and raised in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He was the son of Jon and Susan (Bruns) Lindekugel. Andy was baptized as an infant and confirmed in his faith as a youth at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, where his father was one of the pastors. His parents were proud to say that Andy was the first preacher’s kid born “in captivity” at Christ the King. When he was told by his parents who were expecting another baby, that he would be a big brother, he said, “All I wanted was a dog” (Sorry, Sara!)
Andy attended school from preschool through senior high in Hutchinson, graduating 1998. He was admitted to Augsburg college in Minneapolis, where he broke the school record in shotput and graduated in 2002, with a major in psychology. Andy was always drawn to working in the field of health care, and worked at North Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis in patient mental health, and as a medic in the emergency room.
But Andy had ambitions to become a doctor someday. His goal was to be the “go to guy” in a hospital setting. After much work and study, he was accepted at the Rosalind-Franklin School of Medicine in North Chicago where he focused on podiatry, dubbing the podiatric school as “Billy Scholl’s College of Knowledge” in honor of the school’s founder Dr. William Scholl, doctor of orthopedics, who invented shoe prosthetics.
After seven years of medical school, Andy graduated on June 6, 2014, as Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM). Soon after he was offered a job to work as a podiatrist at Benefis Health Systems in Great Falls, Montana, and eventually achieved board certification in podiatric medicine this last spring. Andy was a well-respected doctor among his colleagues and his many patients who were grateful for his surgical skills and gentle bedside manners. When he found the time in his busy schedule, he focused on his favorite hobby: Golf!
Andy passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the age of 45 years, following a struggle with depression.
God bless Andy’s memory.

I was so saddened to hear about this. I was a year behind Andy in school in both high school and Augsburg with Andy. We crossed paths fairly often and he was always a calm and kind man.
But my greatest memory of Andy comes from long ago. We were backyard neighbors in Hutch until my family moved to a different home in Hutch when I was about 5.
While we were still neighbors, Andy and I would often play in our family’s sandbox in our backyard. One day, Andy came over with a big garden shovel and told me that today we were going to dig to China.
Well, we made it a couple inches into the black dirt below the sandbox before my parents stopped us from ripping up the yard. But we continued to talk for the succeeding weeks about just how we can get to China.
Alas, we never made it there, but it remains the first dream of mine of which I have a memory.
Thanks, Andy, for teaching me to dream!
