Obituary

Elaine Margaret Olson Radloff was born May 23, 1934, to Oscar and Amanda (Ahl) Olson in Martinsburg Township, Renville County, Minnesota. She was baptized as an infant and later confirmed as a youth at First Lutheran Church in Hector, Minnesota. Elaine graduated from Hector High School in 1952.

Elaine was united in marriage to James Radloff on August 2, 1952, at First Lutheran Church in Hector, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with six children: Diane, Curt, Wayne, Michael, Beth, and Craig. She loved being a homemaker, a dairy farmer’s wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma. Elaine and Jim resided in Hector and shared 49 years of marriage until Jim passed away on March 3, 2002.

Elaine was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church in Hector, where she was involved in church quilting, was a member of the church choir, and was also the head of Lutheran Church Women (LCW). She was also a member of the Renville County Dairy Board and the American Dairy Association. She was very involved as a leader for 4-H, volunteered in the community and school, and was a Lioness Member.

The greatest joys in Elaine’s life were her family, friends and her faith. She enjoyed spending time with them whether it was playing cards, cooking a meal or just visiting. She always had time for a cup of coffee and had homemade treats on hand. She was a voracious reader and had a beautiful singing voice. Butterflies, angels, and finding a penny had a special meaning to her.

Grandma Elaine always had time for little ones. She loved playing any games, reading books, watching movies and tea parties. She always let them make a mess whether it was a craft or learning to cook.   She never raised her voice; she was the most patient person and always had an open lap for hugs.

On Thursday, August 16, 2018, Elaine passed away at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center in Buffalo Lake, having reached the age of 84 years. Blessed be her memory.

Elaine is survived by her:

Elaine was such a special lady to me! She was a great friend of my moms and thus mine! I remember her great potatoe salad and visits with out kids to their dairy farm! She always has a story to share, she was a very emotional woman and we exchanged many tears together! Love and hugs to the family and thank God for His promises and many precious memories!

So many fond memories of being at your farm. Elaine was always there with food and a smile after walking the fields. My prayers and sympathy are with your family during this difficult time.

So many fond memories of Elaine. She always had a smile on her face and a meal to feed an army after working in the fields. Thoughts and prayers to your family during this difficult time.
