Obituary

Elaine Sybilla (Klaustermeier) Winterfeldt was born on August 26, 1936, in Bergen Township, McLeod County, Minnesota.  She was the daughter of Herbert Louis and Sybilla Kathryn (Fruetel) Klaustermeier.  Elaine was baptized as an infant on September 20, 1936, by Rev. Ernest H. Stahlke and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 2, 1950, by Rev. R. A. Ritz both at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, Minnesota.  She received her education in Lester Prairie, Minnesota, attending Grades 1-7 at Lester Prairie Public School, Grade 8 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran School, and graduated with the Lester Prairie High School Class of 1954 with the honor of Salutatorian.

On September 27, 1968, Elaine was united in marriage to Lyle Leonard Winterfeldt by Rev. N. E. Steinke at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, Minnesota.  Lyle and Elaine made their home in Glencoe, Minnesota.  Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Paul and Neil.  Elaine and Lyle shared over 52 years of marriage.

Elaine worked at Lester’s Inc. as secretary/receptionist from 1954-1968, McLeod County deputy clerk of court from 1969-1970 (until her first child was born) and then the McLeod County Assessor’s office until 1975 (when her second child was born).  She also worked seasonally at Green Giant in Glencoe in the office from 1982-1992.  Elaine was an active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.  As her ministry to the church, she was a member of the alter guild, served on the Board of Trustees and taught Sunday school for many years.

Elaine enjoyed listening to old time music, traveling, attending wedding dances, bowling, cooking, baking, watching Twins games, gardening and flowers.  Family was very important to her and she treasured the time spent with them and her friends.

Elaine will always remain in our memory as a kind heart cousin in-law with a ready smile. Her good nature was evident in the way she would always smirk at the Winterfeldt brand of humor. She lived her Christian faith in many ways.

Our deepest condolences. Love, Bruce, Linda, Lauri and families
