Obituary
Elenora Ida Dorothy Anna (Koester) Hardel was born on June 25, 1931, in Arlington, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Arthur Karl and Edna Martha (Maas) Koester. Elenora was baptized as an infant on July 5, 1931, by Rev. A.J. Dysterheft and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 25, 1945, by Rev. H.H. Schaller both at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Helen Township, rural Glencoe, Minnesota. She received her education at a country school.
On April 25, 1950, Elenora was united in marriage to Harold Arthur Hardel by Rev. H.H. Schaller at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Helen Township, rural Glencoe, Minnesota. Elenora and Harold made their home on the family farm between Glencoe and Arlington. Then later they moved into Glencoe. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Kenneth, Joyce and Keith. Elenora and Harold shared over 53 years of marriage until Harold passed away on January 9, 2003.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Elenora helped on the family farm and was an Avon Representative for 30 years. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. As her ministry to the church, she was a member of the Ladies Aide, served on the Jesus Cares Ministry and devoted countless hours designing beautiful church banners.
Elenora enjoyed volunteering, reading, sewing, gardening and playing cribbage. She loved music so playing piano, singing and dancing were a great part of her life. Elenora and Harold even polka danced competitively. Elenora cherished the time spent with her family and friends.

Dear Hardel family,
Linda and I extend our sympathies at the loss of your loved one. While sad, there is joy in knowing that she fought the fight of faith and now wears the crown of eternal life. What a joy it was for us to know Elenora during our time at St John’s. She was a great help and a very special person and lived her faith every day. May the Lord watch over you and keep you in His tender care.

Bonnie Davis says
Dear Hardel Family
My sincere sympathies to you on the loss of Elenora. She was truly a woman of God and lived her life accordingly. I have many fond memories of when our families shared driving us to St John’s school – we would meet at the “Y” and take turns driving on to school. Your mom always had such a generous and uplifting spirit – she was a “glass half full” kind of person. May you all find comfort in knowing she rests in the arms of Jesus
