Service Information
Elfrieda M. Otting, age 99, of Gaylord, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at Golden Hearts Assisted Living in Arlington.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, September 17, 2016, at 10:30 A.M. at American Lutheran Church in Gaylord with interment in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Gaylord.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 16, 2016, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Obituary
Elfrieda “Frieda” M. (Bembenek) Otting was born on December 6, 1916, in New Auburn, Minnesota, to Adolph and Louise (Grunzke) Bembenek.
Frieda was joined in marriage to Edwin H. Otting in 1941 and was blessed with five children.
Frieda had the greenest of thumbs and spent innumerable hours working in her very large garden which was enjoyed by anyone who passed by. Many were lucky enough to be recipients of vegetables, fruits or flowers from the garden. She was particularly fond of her roses. Fortunately, she was extremely talented with floral arrangements, so her house was always filled with fresh flowers. She also had an extensive collection of African violets and anything else that could be grown indoors.
Frieda is survived by her:
Children, Donna (John), Skule,
Doris (Charles) Reiner,
Mary King (Marvin Lambert) and,
David (Sandy) Otting;
17 grandchildren; and
21 great-grandchildren.
Frieda was preceded in death by her husband; son, Roger; six brothers; and a sister.
