Ella A. Rickheim

Obituary

Ella Anna Martha Rickheim was born August 26, 1927, at her parents’ home in Penn Township, McLeod County, Minnesota, the daughter of August and Emma (Otto) Osterman. She was baptized and confirmed in her faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton. Ella grew up in Penn Township, and attended country school.

On September 9, 1945, Ella was united in marriage to Hillard Rickheim at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Penn Township, rural Brownton. They made their home on a farm near Fernando and were blessed with their son, Harlan.  They moved to New Auburn in 1990 for the remainder of their years together. Ella and Hillard had shared nearly 54 years of marriage when Hillard passed away on August 6, 1999.

Ella was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Fernando, and was active with W.E.L.C.A.  During her younger years, Ella enjoyed dancing with her husband and brothers. She liked to play cards, go fishing, and work in her garden. She loved her family, and enjoyed all of the time she spent with her grandchildren.

On Thursday morning, April 25, 2019, Ella passed away at the GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe, having reached the age of 91 years. Blessed be her Memory.

Son, Harlan Rickheim and his wife, Jodi, of Fernando, MN;
Grandchildren, Ashley Brehmer and her husband, Collin, and Brett Rickheim;
Great-Grandson, Baby Brehmer due September 1, 2019;
Stepbrothers: Ellsworth Becker and wife, Helen, Sylvan Becker and wife, Sandy, Duane Becker and wife, Monica, and Laverne Becker;
Stepsisters: Donna Schiro and husband, David, Shirley Kranz and husband, Hanz, Joanne Uecker and husband, Dan;
Stepbrothers-in-law, Roger Cohrs and Bill Dahlke;
other relatives, and friends.

Ella was preceded in death by her parents, August and Emma Osterman; Husband, Hillard Rickheim; Brothers, Maynard and wife Lorraine Osterman, and Robert and wife Viola Hardel; Leonard and Esther Becker, who helped raise Ella; and by her Stepsisters, Mary Dahlke and Betty Dahlke.
