Service Information

Elmer Wittman, age 97, of Hector, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.

Private Graveside Service will be held Thursday, July 17, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at the Bird Island City Cemetery.

Obituary

Elmer George Wittman was born April 23, 1917, in Guttenberg, Iowa, the son of Fred and Lena (Winch) Wittman.  He grew up in Iowa where he attended school through the 8th grade. 

In October of 1937 Elmer was united in marriage to Leonette Gander.  They made their home in Hector  where they raised their three children, Elmer, Noreen, and Boyd.  Elmer farmed all his life, and worked construction for 26 years. 

Elmer enjoyed gardening, woodworking, dancing, playing checkers and traveling. He also loved to play instruments as a young man and listen to music.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Leonette Wittman, of the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center;

children: Elmer Glen Wittman and his wife, Ann,
Noreen Wittman Capers and her husband, Randall, and
Boyd Wittman;

grandchildren: Thelma (Brian) Jorve, Warren Wittman, Neill Capers, Jennifer Wittman, Eve Morgan, Atina Wittman;

great-grandchildren:  Malia Wittman, Bailey Jorve, Olivia Jorve, Madeline Wittman, Makenna Wittman, and Jade Wittman.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister.
