Service Information
Elmer Muchow, age 93, of Gaylord passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Society in Winthrop.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, May 4, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville, Dryden Township, Sibley County, Minnesota, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 3, 2017, from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Obituary
Elmer Heinrick George Muchow was born on April 23, 1924, at home in Transit Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. He was the son of Henry and Sophie (Trebbensee) Muchow. Elmer was baptized as an infant on May 12, 1924, at Union Hospital in New Ulm, Minnesota, by Pastor Gust Mueller and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth in May of 1938, by Pastor Miller at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville. He received his education at Mountville Parochial School.
On December 3, 1977, Elmer was united in marriage to Bernette Fredin at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville, by Pastor Walter Hannemann. After their marriage, the couple lived in New Auburn Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. He was a farmer, like his dad, and enjoyed country living. Elmer and Bernette shared 39 years of marriage.
Elmer was a long time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville.
Elmer was an avid fisherman-summer and winter-hunting and the outdoors. He cherished the time he spent with his family.
When he needed assistance with his daily care, Elmer became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Winthrop and passed away there on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the age of 93 years. Blessed be his memory.

Grandchildren, Todd Muchow and his wife, Elizabeth of Minneapolis, MN, Sara Anderson Moore and her husband, Richard of Edina, MN, Megan Anderson of Edina, MN, Gabriel Schmidt and his wife, Kathryn of Jacksonville, FL, Bjorn Schmidt and his wife, Young Shi Schmidt of Wuhan, China;
9 Great Grandchildren;
Step Sons, Allen Fredin and his wife, Sandi of Gaylord, MN, and
Roger Fredin and special friend, Jill Bening of Gaylord, MN;
8 Step Grandchildren;
5 Step Great Grandchildren;
Special Friend, Teddy, Elmer’s dog;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.
Elmer was preceded in death by his Parents, Henry and Sophie Muchow; Brother, Ervin Muchow; other relatives and friends.
