Emaline Schmidt

Obituary

Emaline Mary Martha Schmidt was born on December 11, 1926, in Winsted, Minnesota.  She was the daughter of Chris and Julia (Andert) Horwath.   Emaline was baptized as an infant on December 26, 1926, in Winsted, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth.  She received her education in her home area.   Emaline attended the University of Minnesota Cosmetology School in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  

Emaline was blessed with two children, Harlan and Rik.  She resided in Litchfield, Minnesota. 

Emaline held employment as a cosmetologist at the University of Minnesota.  She later worked for the Hennepin County Medical Society in Minneapolis and for the Boo Dental Lab in Minneapolis. She retired in 1989.  Emaline attended St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Litchfield, Minnesota.  

Emaline enjoyed gardening.  She loved flowers and taking long walks.  Emaline also enjoyed reading and working on jigsaw puzzles. Emaline was a loving homemaker and mother.  She was very dedicated and supportive of her children. Emaline cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.  

When Emaline needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident of Our Lady of Peace Home in St. Paul, Minnesota on November 21, 2016.  She passed away there on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at the age of 89 years.  Blessed be her memory.

Emaline is survived by her:
Son, Rik Schmidt and his wife, Michelle of Oak Grove, MN;
Grandchildren, Eddie Schwankl, Daniel Schwankl, Brianna Lockwood, Shyanne Wagner, Harrison Lockwood,
Great Grandchildren, Samantha Schwankl and Brie Schwankl;
Sister, Marie Blomker of Litchfield, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, many other relatives and friends. 

Emaline is preceded in death by her: Parents, Chris and Julia Horwath; Son, Harlan Schwankl and his wife, Bonnie;  Sisters, Katherine Rohrbeck, Ann Ferrian, Suzann Furlong, Betty Virning, Rosie Schrader, Luella Taylor; Brothers, Chris Horwath, Frank Horwath, Lawrence Horwath.
