Service Information

Ervin Carl Damlow, age 83, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at his home in Hutchinson. 

Memorial Services will be held Friday, May 20, 2016, at 11:00 A.M., at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel, in Hutchinson, with interment at Fort Snelling, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Gathering of Family and Friends will be Thursday, May 19, 2016, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Chapel.

Military Honors by the Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad.

Obituary

Ervin Carl Damlow was born on June 12, 1932 in Lynn Township, Minnesota. He was the son of Carl and Lydia (Schultz) Damlow.   Ervin was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Lynn Township.  He received his education in country school, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School, Class of 1950.

Ervin entered active military service in the United States Army on January 9, 1953, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and served his country during peace time and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and also a Good Conduct Medal.  He received an Honorable Discharge from active duty on January 8, 1955, at Fort Lewis, Washington.  He continued serving his country in the Army Reserves.

On August 10, 1968, Ervin was united in marriage to Diane (Templin) of Glencoe at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with four children, Gary, Alvin, Karen and Brian. Ervin and Diane resided in Lynn Township where they farmed.  Together they shared 47 years of marriage.

Ervin was self-employed as a farmer and raised all different types of animals including, dairy cows, ducks, pigs and he was also employed as a Milk Truck Driver and had his own milk route.  Ervin was a member of the Hutchinson American Legion Post 96.

Ervin enjoyed playing cards, listening to music, dancing, fishing and watching his grandkids play baseball. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.

Ervin passed away on Tuesday, May 17th, 2016 at his home, at the age of 83 years.

He will be dearly missed.

Spouse, Diane Damlow of Hutchinson, MN;
Children, Gary Damlow and his wife Lori of Hutchinson, MN;
Alvin Damlow and his wife Sherri of Green Isle, MN;
Karen Wittman and her husband David of Hutchinson, MN;
Brian Damlow and his wife Sheri of Hutchinson, MN;
Grandchildren,  Marcus Damlow, Dakota Damlow, Arianna Damlow, Garrett Damlow , Wyatt Damlow Rogan Damlow, Phillip Carter and his wife, Allison, Christina Sheets, Trisha Damlow, Tyler Damlow, Trevor Damlow, Ashley Damlow  and her fiance, Allen Broll, Caitlyn Wittman, Jessica Carter and her husband, Eric, Jennifer Risk and her husband, Andrew, Brandon Hewitt, Bailey Damlow, Brady Damlow;
15 Great Grandchildren;
Siblings, Harriett Koelln and her husband Ken of Litchfield;
Arlene Dubisar of Hutchinson, MN;
Loretta Svoboda of Hutchinson, MN;
Martina Matthews of Hutchinson, MN;
Willard Damlow  and his wife Carol of Hutchinson, MN;
Sister In-Law, Eldora Damlow of Norwood Young America, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.

Ervin is preceded in death by his: Parents, Carl and Lydia Damlow; Brothers, Ray Damlow, Alfred Damlow, Everett Damlow; Sister, Dorothy Forcier and her husband Ervin; Brother In-Laws, Jerry Dubisar, Stanley Svoboda.
