Service Information
Ethel Donnay, age 92, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 6, 2019, 11:00 A.M. at Church of Peace in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment following at Hillcrest Cemetery in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 5, 2019, 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, Minnesota, and will continue one hour prior the service at the church on Tuesday.
Obituary
Ethel Iris (Kelm) Donnay was born on March 29, 1927, in Daleview, Montana. She was the daughter of Fred and Lillian (Wangerin) Kelm. Ethel was baptized as an infant on April 18, 1927 and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on June 2, 1940, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Outlook, Montana. She received her education in Daleview and Outlook, Montana.
In November of 1947, Ethel was united in marriage to Leo Schmerbauch, and later separated. On July 15, 1954, Ethel was united in marriage to Elmer Donnay. The couple made their home in Glencoe, MN on the family farm. Ethel was blessed with three children, Allen, Wayne and Joyce. Elmer and Ethel shared over 40 years of marriage until Elmer passed away on March 24, 1995.
Ethel was a member of the Church of Peace in Glencoe and loved helping at church however she could, especially making many of her famous egg salad sandwiches.
Ethel enjoyed farming, gardening, playing cards, bingo, word searches, crocheting and crafts. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchild.
Ethel took pride in living and working on the family farm until just a few days before her passing when she was cared for at GlenFields Living With Care in Glencoe. She passed away at the age of 92 years, 4 months and 1 day.
