Eugene Charles Hillmann

Obituary

Eugene Charles Hillmann was born on April 18, 1935, in Fairfax, Minnesota. He was the son of Arthur and Alvina (Freyholtz) Hillmann. Eugene was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Wellington Township. He received his education at Emanuel Lutheran Parochial School and was a 1953 graduate of the Fairfax High School.

On December 28, 1955, Eugene was united in marriage to Jean Berg at Central Lutheran Church in Camp Township. After their marriage, the couple farmed and milked cows in Wellington Township. He was a Pioneer Seed Dealer for 28 years. Eugene and Jean were blessed with five children and they shared 60 years of marriage.

Eugene was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Wellington Township and served as a Trustee, Elder, Church School Board, and Choir. He was on the Fairfax Grain Elevator board.

Eugene was devoted to his faith, family and farming. Eugene and Jean enjoyed many things together; playing cards and games, Pioneer events and trips, dancing and singing, and attending celebrations of family and friends. He loved the outdoor life, life on the farm and he loved dogs, especially, German Shepherds. He always had a dog by his side, whether working on the farm or relaxing in the evening. Eugene’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his true pride and joy.

Eugene and Jean retired and moved to Fairfax in 2007. When he needed assistance with his daily care, Eugene became a resident of the Buffalo Lake Health Care Center on August 8, 2014, and passed away there on Friday, April 8, 2016, at the age of 80 years. Blessed be his memory.
