Service Information
Evelyn Laraway, age 100, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, Minnesota.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson, with interment in the Oakland Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.
Obituary
Evelyn Yvonne (Carter) Laraway was born on October 31, 1921, in Carpenter, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Ralph and Agnes (Madsen) Carter. She grew up on a farm with her family in South Dakota until age 11, at which time the family moved to a farm six miles south east of Gibbon, Minnesota.
Evelyn attended a country school through 8th grade and then four years of high school in Gibbon, graduating with the class of 1939. Evelyn married Russell Laraway on December 27, 1940 and together they were blessed with five children. They shared 68 ½ years together until Russell passed away in May, 2009.
Evelyn embraced Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior in 1946 and her faith in God inspired all who knew her.
She thoroughly enjoyed being with family and friends, reading, especially her bible, walking and fixing dinner for her family. She was a talented seamstress, she made quilts for all of her grandchildren.
She passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, Minnesota, at the age of 100 years.

8 Grandchildren, Jerilyn Ring, Jenelle Eckel (Jeffrey), Christina Baumgartener (Troy), Jennifer Droege (Brian), Ryan Schober, Jodi Selander, Dylan Morris (Kathryn), Lindsay Morris (Carey);
19 Great-Grandchildren;
5 Great-Great-Grandchildren;
Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Agnes Carter; Husband, Russell Laraway; Son, Dale Laraway; Grandson, Jay Johnson; Sons-in-law, Mark Morris and Roger Johnson; Brothers, Harvey Carter, Gerald Carter, George Carter and James Carter; Sister, Blanche Motley.

Our dear friend, Evelyn used that body for 100 years so it is the way of life and death that her sweet, Godly Spirit should be released from that. In that we rejoice for her, but grieve with the family in their loss.

Evelyn was a lovely lady. I met her at Harmony River. She used to come to the Monday night singing. She sang with grace and a great love for God. I was blessed by her smile, kindness, and gentle spirit. She will be greatly missed.

We all feel a loss to know Evelyn is gone. I didn’t get to see her often but I knew she was ‘there’…….one sweet lady! I remember the rejoicing when she and Blanche came back to the fellowship we all loved. Accept my sympathy in the loss of your Mom.

I am so very sorry for your family’s loss. Evelyn was an amazing lady who was always so kind, caring, loving and sweet to everyone she came into contact with. She would always give you a big hug, with a sweet smile on her face and, she was an amazing cook! She was loved by so many will be missed dearly but will never be forgotten. We each will always have the wonderful memories in our hearts and know she will be watching over us from above. Heaven has gained an beautiful angel. I know it’s very hard to lose your mom, we lost ours in 2016. Have faith and know that God, family and friends will help you through this difficult time.
