Service Information
Evelyn Lena (Gorr) Meyer, age 87, of Buffalo Lake, Minnesota formerly of Brownton, Minnesota and Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019, at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 28, 2019, at 11:00 A.M., at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with interment in Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2019, from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Obituary
Evelyn Lena (Gorr) Meyer was born on July 24, 1931, in Collins Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of John and Ida (Hanke) Gorr. Evelyn was baptized as an infant and confirmed in her Lutheran faith on May 25, 1947, at Grace American Lutheran Church in Brownton. She received her education in Brownton.
On September 1, 1951, Evelyn was united in marriage to Raymond Meyer at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Wayne, Roxanne, and Bradley. Evelyn and Raymond resided in Hutchinson for a short time before moving to Lake Marion, Brownton. In 1975, the Meyers again became residents of Hutchinson. They shared 36 years of marriage until Raymond passed away in 1986. After Raymond’s passing, Evelyn moved to Evergreen Apartments in Hutchinson before moving to Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
In her younger years, Evelyn worked as a waitress at Hotel Jorgenson in Hutchinson, the Lake Marion Ballroom in Brownton for 20 years, and other various waitressing jobs. She also worked at Cash Wise Deli. Evelyn was later employed in production at 3M in Hutchinson for 24 ½ years until retiring in 1993. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and embroidery. Evelyn also enjoyed bowling, walking, and dancing. She cherished the time spent with her grandchild, great-grandchildren, family, and friends.
Evelyn passed away on March 24, 2019, at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center, at the age of 87 years.

Daughter, Roxanne Schmalz and her husband, Larry, of Buffalo Lake, MN;
Son, Bradley Meyer and Special Friend, Sharon, of Hutchinson, MN;
Grandchildren, Chad Schmalz and his wife, Dayna of Buffalo Lake, MN;
Great-Grandchildren, Owen Schmalz, Anna Schmalz, and Ella Schmalz;
Sister, Vera Meyer of Hutchinson, MN;
Brother-in-law, Orlando Meyer;
Sisters-in-law, Judy Gorr, Marilyn Kiecker, and Gloria Meyer, Yvonne Swanson;
nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives, and friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her Parents, John, and Ida Gorr; Husband, Raymond Meyer; Son, Wayne Meyer in infancy; Grand Daughter, Christine Schmalz; Brothers, Vernon Gorr, and Donald Gorr; Sisters, Darlene Halstead, and Marian Dvorak and her husband, Jim.
