Service Information

Gary L. Degn, age 75, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.

Memorial Service will be Friday, November 22, 2024, 11:00 A.M., at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.

Gathering of Family and Friends will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Obituary

Gary Lee Degn was born on September 8, 1949, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He was the son of Harry Hansen and Dorothy June (Nelson) Degn. Gary was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at Fauth Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. He received his education in Hutchinson and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School class of 1967.

On October 26, 1984, Gary was united in marriage to Barbara (Paulsen) Sandman in Chaska, Minnesota. Gary was blessed with three sons during his first marriage: Jeremy, Jason and Jeffrey, and two step children: Justen and Makensie. Gary and Barbara made their home in rural Hutchinson. They shared 40 years of marriage.

Gary was employed at the Pure Milk Products of Winsted, Minnesota, for a short period of time before working at 3M. He was employed for 36 years before retiring.

Gary enjoyed getting together with family and friends, fishing, hunting, camping, reloading ammunition, riding his Harley, and caring for his yard.

Gary passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, at the age of 75 years.

Wife, Barbara Degn of rural Hutchinson, MN;
Sons, Jeremy Degn and his wife, Rachel of Hutchinson, MN,
Jason Degn and his wife, Nikki of Hutchinson, MN;
Step children, Justen Paulsen and his fiancé, Maria of Hutchinson, MN,
Makensie Paulsen of Litchfield, MN;
Grandchildren, Collin Degn, Payton Degn, Tim Degn, Taylor Degn, Jeffrey Moe, Molly Hovda, Samantha Peters;
Daughter-in-law, Kate Kromarek and her husband, Ryan of Norwood Young America, MN;
Sister, Nancy Butler and her husband, Bruce of Plato, MN;
Sister-in-law, Phyllis Breezee of Chaska, MN, and her fiancé, Gary Barnes of FL;
Brother-in-law, William Sandman of Hutchinson, MN;
Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, good friends and neighbors.

Gary is preceded in death by his Parents, Harry and Dorothy Degn; Son, Jeffrey Degn; Grandparents, Carl and Gjerta (Ulbaek) Degn, Pete and Katherine (Christianson) Nelson; Brothers-in-law, Warren Breezee, Brad Schwanke, Steven Tuman; Sister-in-law, Sandy Sandman; Nephew, Gerrod Breezee; aunts, uncles and cousins.
