Service Information

Gerald “Jerry” Elliott, age 84, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society in Howard Lake, Minnesota.

Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson.

Gathering of Family and Friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.

Military Honors by Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad.

Memorials preferred.

Obituary

Gerald “Jerry” L. Elliott was born on October 31, 1939, at home in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He was the son of Henry and Marvel (Weber) Elliott. Jerry was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith as a youth. He was a proud boy scout and eagle scout. Jerry received his education in Gering, Nebraska, and was a graduate of the Gering High School Class of 1957. He furthered his education at the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS) in Newport, Rhode Island.

Jerry entered active military service in the United States Navy on June 26, 1958, in Denver, Colorado, and served his country during Peace Time. He received an Honorable Discharge on August 17, 1962, at U.S. Naval Station, Charleston, South Carolina, and achieved the rate of Radioman Third Class.

Jerry was united in marriage to Geraldine Saye. This marriage was blessed with one son, Lynwood. On March 21, 1995, Jerry was united in marriage to Colleen “Connie” Schmoll. They resided in Hutchinson. Jerry and Connie shared 28 years of marriage.

Jerry owned and operated KFC in Hutchinson. He also managed Total Mart Convenience Store in Hutchinson. Jerry retired in 2012. He was a member of the Mason Temple Lodge #59 in Hutchinson.

Jerry enjoyed fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.

Jerry passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society in Howard Lake, Minnesota, at the age of 84 years.

Wife, Connie Schmoll of Hutchinson, MN;
Son, Lynwood Elliott and his wife, Michele of Hermantown, MN;
Step-son, Steven Schmoll and his wife, Katie of Princeton, MN,
Grandchildren, Savannah Elliott, Lance Elliott, Egan Schmoll, Anna Schmoll, Jack Schmoll;
Brother, Martin Lacy of Tacoma, WA;
Sister-in-law, Darlene Elliott of Loveland, CO;
Many other relatives and friends.

Jerry is preceded in death by his Father, Henry Elliott; Mother, Marvel Lacy; Brother, Glenn Elliott; Step-son, Alan Schmoll.

    My heartfelt sympathies to you. I enjoyed the years the 3 of us worked together + Jerry Swanson. He was a good fun boss. It was a great time.

    Connie and family, I am so sorry to hear of Jerry’s passing. He had such a kind heart. My favorite pet name for him was Jerr Bear. He wore that name well. Jerry you will be missed by many. Mostly your famy. Then by the others that loved you for your kind heart and soul. I believe there will be a special place for your with our lord. We will all mis you.
