Gideon Mehlhop, age 2 ½ months, of Gaylord, Son of Angie Schuft and Steven Mehlhop, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis.
Private Family Funeral Service will be at Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord with private interment in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Mountville, Dryden Township, Sibley County, Minnesota.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 23, 2021, from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord.
Obituary
Gideon James Mehlhop was born on September 9, 2021, in Glencoe, Minnesota. He was the son of Angie Schuft and Steven Mehlhop. Gideon was baptized on September 26, 2021, by Pastor Storm at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. For every life there is a story. Some stories are longer than others; but it can be surprising how much impact a life can have on others in a very short time.
Gideon had a personality even though he had a very short time to express it. That is an experience that a father and mother never forget. He had tiny fingers, feet and toes that will never be forgotten. He loved to smile when his mom sang him “You are my Sunshine”. Gideon James Mehlhop took a piece of our hearts with him to heaven.
Gideon passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the age of 2 ½ months.

Parents, Angela Schuft and Steve Mehlhop;
Siblings, Wyatt, Hayden, Makayla, Eli;
Grandparents, Steve Sr. and Vernette Mehlhop,
Arden and Barb Schuft;
Many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Gideon is preceded in death by his Great Grandparents, Howard Mehlhop, Leroy and Berniece Hoefs, Erich and Elsie Bembenek, Willmar and Esther Borth, Melvin and Lucille Schuft.

I am George Hahn’s oldest daughter. George was one of the sons of Ella Schuft and Theodore Hahn. She was the oldest child of August and Mina Schuft.

Angela and Steve, many prayers and hugs to you and your sweet children, Although God provided Gideon with two and a half months, he still sent him to a wonderful family made exactly for him. The love I noticed in photos was heartfelt from those four siblings and wonderful parents. That sweet smile will never be forgotten. Much love to you.
