Service Information

Harry Bauer Jr., age 88, of Winthrop passed away Monday, March 28, 2022, at Bayside Manor in Gaylord.

Funeral Service will be Thursday, March 31, 2022, 1:00 P.M. at Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop with interment in the Winthrop Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 31, 2022, from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M., ALL at church.

Memorials preferred to American Heart Association or Breast Cancer Foundation.

Obituary

Harry John Bauer Jr. was born on July 17, 1933, in Gaylord, Minnesota. He was the son of Harry and Esther (Hoecke) Bauer. Harry was baptized as an infant on August 6, 1933, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on March 30, 1947, both at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord. He received his education at country school.

On October 15, 1952, Harry was united in marriage to Lucille Borchert at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Transit Township. This union was blessed with five children. After Harry retired from farming, he worked at Hands, Inc. in Winthrop for a few years. Harry and Lucille shared 63 years of marriage when Lucille passed away on April 27, 2016.

Harry was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson and a former member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop.

Harry enjoyed farming, gardening, woodworking, camping, and biking. He cherished the visits with his grandchildren.

When he needed assistance with his daily care, Harry became a resident of Bayside Manor formerly Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord, and passed away there on Monday, March 28, 2022, at the age of 88 years. Blessed be his memory.

Harry is survived by his:
Children,         James Bauer and his wife, Ruth of Winthrop, MN,
                        Jennifer O’Connor of Winthrop, MN,
                        Jacqueline Huelskamp and Jon Rutkowski of Boerne, TX, and
Jonathan Bauer and his wife, Laura of Rosemount, MN; 
Grandchildren, Travis (Heather) Bauer, Tim (Sandy) Bauer, Myranda Bauer, Stephanie (Dan) Valerius, Megan (Mark) Yrjo, Nick (Caity) Huelskamp, Justin (Maddie) Huelskamp, Joshua Huelskamp, Tricia (Mitchell) Soeffker, Katie (Jesse) Gran, Sam (Maddie) Bauer, Jake Bauer;
Great-Grandchildren, Allison (Joe), and Taylor Bauer, Audrey, Marcus, and Marissa Bauer, Hailey and Harper Valerius, Kaison Yrjo, Parker, Addison, Emmalyn, and Gwendolyn Huelskamp, Layton and Megan Hamre, Lane Wingen, Brayden Wojahn, Rowan  and Lawson Gran;
Sisters, Marge Kloeckl and her husband, Tony of Arlington, MN, and Arlene Blood of San Diego, CA;
Sister-in-law, Jane Bauer;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.

Harry was preceded in death by his Parents, Harry and Esther Bauer; Wife, Lucille Bauer, Son, Joel Bauer; Parents-in-law, Ted and Emma Borchert; Brother, Ken Bauer; Brother-in-law, LuVerne Borchert and his wife, LaVerna.

    I was a neighbor to Harry when he lived at Amberfield in Gaylord and got to him through Lisa Thurman. Sending prayers for family and friends to find peace that he is at rest with our Savior
