Service Information

Herman Hahn, age 93, of Gaylord passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Golden Hearts Assisted Living in Arlington.

Funeral Service will be Monday, December 28, 2020, 10:00 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord with interment in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, December 28, 2020, from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church.

Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed.

Obituary

Herman Otto August Hahn Jr. was born on June 4, 1927, in Sibley Township, Sibley County. He was the son of Herman and Albertina (Briest) Hahn Sr. Herman was baptized on July 3, 1927, at Trinity Lutheran Church by Pastor E. Schlachtenhaufen and later confirmed in his faith as a youth in 1941 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sibley Township, by Pastor E. Kunz. Herman received his education at the country school, District #9, in Sibley Township, Gaylord, Minnesota. 

On November 21, 1956, Herman was united in marriage to Vera Mae Quast at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Arlington, Minnesota. They later became members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord, Minnesota. The couple lived all their lives on their farm in Sibley Township. Herman and Vera shared 64 years of marriage. During their union they were blessed with a son, Curtis Hahn and a daughter, Karen (Hahn) Messner.

Herman enjoyed farming and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He also worked a part-time job off the farm driving a gas tanker on nights and weekends with his son Curtis for 18 years. 

Herman is survived by his:
Wife, Vera Hahn;
Son, Curtis and wife, Tracy (McClelland) Hahn;
Daughter, Karen (Hahn) Messner and husband, Dan;
Brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Marilyn Hahn;
Grandchildren, Brianna (Hahn) Pagel and husband, Adam, Hali (McClelland) Diggs and husband, Daryl, Hilary (McClelland) Enter and husband, Nick, Lukas Messner, Ellie Messner, Matthew Messner and Nicholas Messner;
Great grandchildren, Emma Pagel, and Treyton and Trysten Enter;
Many nieces and nephews. 

Herman was preceded in death by his Parents, Herman and Albertina Hahn; Brothers, George Hahn, Rueben Hahn and his wife, Gertrude, Martin Hahn and his wife, Helen, and Elmer Hahn who died in infancy; Sisters, Mabel Drennon and her husband, Levi; Bertha Goehl and her husband, Paul; Elsie Bembenek and her husband, Erich
