Obituary

Hillard John Pollmann was born March 8, 1941, in Glencoe, Minnesota. He was the son of John G. and Helen (Moehring) Pollmann. Hillard was baptized as an infant on March 30, 1941, by Pastor Alfred Streufert and later confirmed in his faith as a youth on April 3, 1955, by Pastor A.H. Fellwock both at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. He received his education in Glencoe and graduated with the Glencoe High School class of 1959.

On January 9, 1962, Hillard joined the United States Army Reserve and was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He earned the rank of Private E-2 and was awarded the Sharpshooter (rifle) badge. Hillard was honorably discharged on July 8, 1962.

Hillard was united in marriage to Naomi Eleanor Halverson on August 12, 1964, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. The couple made their home on a farm just outside of Glencoe. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, David and Mark. Hillard and Naomi shared over 59 years together.

Hillard was a lifelong farmer. He grew and harvested oats, wheat, alfalfa, soybeans, and corn. Hillard also raised hogs and beef cattle. While he kept busy with all of that he also worked at a number of different places. He was first employed at the Glencoe Creamery and later at Bonniwell’s Oliver in Hutchinson, Minnesota. Following that he was employed at Mueller Sales and Service in Glencoe and Glencoe Butter & Produce for a time, installing dairy equipment at dairy farms around the area. He was never one to stay still for long and could repair just about anything. Family would describe him as somewhat of a “workaholic,” but he loved every minute of it.

Please accept our deepest condolences. Hillard was a highly respected and trusted employee. I remember that many people would come in and ask specifically if Hillard could fix their problem. Not only was he a great employee, but it was also a pleasure to get to know him personally. Peace.

Hillard installed both my milking systems , the pipeline and the parlor system . He was truely and gifted person to troubleshoot problems. He was also a joy to visit with every time I visited Muellers.
