Irene was one of the sweetest people we have known. My husband, Duane, always enjoyed gently “teasing” Irene whenever they would see each other. We have missed seeing her on a regular basis in recent months. Now she has gone home to be with Jesus, her family and her “buddy” Evie, who also passed away this year.
Courtney Witte says
I was Irene’s Home Health Aide for quite some time when she still lived in Hutchinson. She was such a sweet lady with a heart of gold. She knew my husbands family quite well and we would have many conversations together. She also loved seeing pictures of my dog named “Macy” & loved giving treats to! She is now at home with Jesus, but will be so missed!
Mary J Carlson says
To Mark and all the family,
We are sad to hear of the passing of such a wonderful woman. “Grandma” Irene is what our children called her. She treated our family as one of her own. “Grandpa” Harold used to have us out to the farm for a fish fry and we thoroughly enjoyed that. We celebrated Halloween , Christmas’s and many birthday’s with them. Irene worked for my husband, Dr. Daniel Carlson for over 13 years at our dental offices in Silver Lake and Hutchinson. She was a faithful employee and helped us serve many patients over the years. She did make the best poppy seed kolaches and introduced them to our family. We are thankful for her love she showed to our family and we loved her very much. May God bless your family. Love in Christ, Dr. Daniel and Mary Carlson and family.
JoLen (Sustacek) Bentz says
Harold and Irene were members of the Farmers Union Swan Lake Local Action Group which held meetings at the Bear Lake school. While folks were discussing business Irene would take ‘us kids’ upstairs and lead a conversation (just for kids) of farm related topics, followed by a craft which pertained to the subject. She brought copies of The Farmer Magazine, Successful Farmer, and seed catalogs. We would cut and glue and at the end of class have show and tell. Soon kids looked forward to the meetings because we knew Mrs. Schroeder was going to have class! Irene had great faith and lived her life as a reflection of the Lord. I am humbled by her humility and patience, and by the kindness she shared through the years with me and my family.
