Irene Thurn, age 74, of Glencoe, Minnesota, wife of Andrew, passed away Sunday, August 11th, 2019, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 16, 2019, 11:00 A.M. at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment in the Glencoe Catholic Cemetery in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 16, 2019, from 9:00-11:00 A.M., two hours prior the service at the church.
Obituary
Irene Marie (Nowak) Thurn was born on September 9, 1944, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Peter and Helen (Chekal) Nowak. Irene was baptized as an infant on September 24, 1944, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on October 24, 1956, by Bishop William O'Brady both at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church in Silver Lake, Minnesota. She received her education in Silver Lake and was a graduate of the Silver Lake High School Class of 1962.
On August 19, 1967, Irene was united in marriage to Andrew Thurn at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church in Silver Lake. After their marriage, the couple resided in Glencoe for many years. Irene sold Avon for many years. Irene and Andrew were blessed with two sons, Brian and Robert. Irene and Andrew shared almost 52 years of marriage.
Irene was employed as a clerk at S & L for 5 years, 3M in production for 6 years, Ben Franklin for 11 years and Snyder Drug for 11 years. She was a member of Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, the CCW, and sang in the Choir for more than 10 years and then helped song lead in church. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
Irene enjoyed reading, traveling, antiques, crafts and craft shows, and spending time with her friends. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children.
Irene passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia at the age of 74 years 11 months and 2 days.

Other relatives and friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her Parents, Peter and Helen Nowak; Sister, Delores Thurn; Brother in infancy; and a Nephew in infancy.
