Janice H. Longhenry

Obituary

Janice Helen (Schultz) Longhenry was born on April 2, 1934, in Winthrop, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Albert and Marie (Brown) Schultz. Janice was baptized as an infant on May 23, 1934, and later confirmed in her faith as a youth on May 5, 1947, both at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Winthrop. She received her education in Winthrop and graduated from Winthrop High School in the class of 1951. She continued her education in Mankato, Minnesota, earning an Associate's Degree in Secretarial Management. She pursued her career and worked at the McLeod County Courthouse, where she met her husband, Earl.

On March 1, 1957, Janice was united in marriage to Earl Longhenry at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Winthrop by Reverend Schiro. The couple made their home in rural Glencoe, where they farmed for many years. The couple was blessed with two children: Kristine and Thomas. They shared just over 40 years together before Earl passed away on March 23, 1997.

Janice was a loving mother and farm wife. She worked side by side with Earl milking cows, driving the combine, and taking care of her many kitties. Janice was a faithful and active member at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe. She was one of the charter members; she served with the Ladies’ Guild and sang in the choir.

Janice loved to be outdoors, whether she was farming, tending to her gardens, or caring for her cats. She loved to go swimming at the family’s lake house and meet up with friends to socialize and play Bingo. Time spent with family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was time she truly cherished. She became a resident at Grand Meadows in November of 2018 and enjoyed many activities with her friends.

Janice passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Grand Meadows Senior Living in Glencoe, at the age of 91 years and 19 days.
