Service Information
Jeanette Voelz, age 103, of Winthrop, passed away Monday, July 15, 2019, at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, July 23, 2019, 11:00 A.M. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop with interment in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Obituary
Jeanette Marion Elaine Voelz was born on May 12, 1916, on the family farm in rural Danube, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Ferdinand and Martha (Krueger) Schroeder. Jeanette was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at the Zion United Methodist Church in Danube. She received her education in Danube and was a graduate of the Danube High School Class of 1934.
On July 14, 1940, she married Karl Voelz at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Danube. They were blessed with two children, Kay (Mrs. Tom Schuette) and Dennis. They lived in Danube until 1949, when they moved to Winthrop. Later they also resided in New Ulm and Morris, Minnesota. In 1972, they returned to Winthrop. In 2010 Jeanette moved to Glencoe and in 2013 she became a resident of Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord, where she resided until her death. Jeanette and Karl shared 51 years of marriage before Karl passed away on December 27, 1991.
During her lifetime she worked a variety of jobs outside the home.
Jeanette was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop, and an active member of the Ladies Guild. She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary #314 for more than 60 years.
Jeanette enjoyed playing cards, Mexican train dominoes, bowling, crocheting, and reading. Spending time with her children and grandchildren were important to her. She was an avid Twins fan.
When she needed assistance with her daily care, Jeanette became a resident of Oak Terrace Health Care Center on March 20, 2013, and passed away there on Monday, July 15, 2019, at the age of 103 years. Blessed be her memory.

Eight Great Grandchildren;
Two Great Great Grandchildren;
Many Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her Parents, Ferdinand and Martha Schroeder; Husband, Karl Voelz; Son, Dennis Voelz; Six Sisters; Nine Brothers; 10 Sisters-In-Law; and Six Brothers-In-Law.
